Designed by Sweden for Sweden, Built by Holland

FKAB will design the four Newbuildings of Ferries that Holland Shipyards will build for Trafikverket Färjerederiet.

FKAB are glad and honoured to announce that we have signed a contract with Holland Shipyards to design the four ferries with electric propulsion that will be built for the Swedish road ferries administration, Trafikverket Färjerederiet.
FKAB will do the documentation for approval such as Calculations, Stell structure, Arrangements and Systems & Production Design.
This is so far a complete cooperation between Sweden and The Netherlands since the procurement documentation and concept was made by Swedish Poseidon Consult and now continues with FKAB Marine Design to do the rest.
These ferries are made to make an environmental friendly approach, which is well in line with Färjerederiets Vison 45, and will be equipped with batteries for full electric propulsion with shore power charging in both ends and with only back-up auxillaries if needed that will run on HVO.

Erik Froste, CEO Swedish Roadferries, describe it like this to us.
– “Hearing that our subcontractor, Holland Shipyards Group decided to work together with FKAB Marine Design made us happy. It is always good to work with well known people and companies. We trust FKAB and know they are experienced and know the business. The four new buildings are extremely important for our Strategic goal, to reduce our CO2-footprints to zero for our total fleet of 70 road ferries latest 2045. And we do not want any unnecessary unexpected hiccups. It is hard enough as it is.”

Well said, and we ensure that FKAB in cooperation with Holland Shipyards will resuslt in four new ferries to be proud of.
