Ferry interior design combines passenger flow, capacity, comfort, accessibility, safety and operational requirements. The layout must provide efficient movement between entrances, vehicle decks, seating and service areas while considering materials, noise, lighting, fire safety and the overall passenger experience.
Can existing ferries be retrofitted for hybrid or electric propulsion?
Yes. Existing ferries can in many cases be converted to hybrid or battery-electric propulsion. Feasibility depends on the operating profile, required battery capacity, available space and weight, electrical system, charging infrastructure and the remaining lifetime of the vessel. An early feasibility study can establish whether conversion is technically and commercially reasonable.
