    FAQ

Answers to guide your maritime journey

A dredger is a specialized vessel designed to remove, transport or relocate material from the seabed. Dredgers are used for port and channel maintenance, deepening waterways, land reclamation and marine construction.

Dredging vessels are used to remove or relocate seabed material for port maintenance, channel deepening, land reclamation and marine construction. They can also maintain required water depths where sedimentation would otherwise restrict vessel traffic.

The main types include trailing suction hopper dredgers, which collect and transport material onboard; cutter suction dredgers, which excavate and pump material through pipelines; and backhoe dredgers, which use an excavator for precise removal of harder seabed material.

Dredger selection depends on water depth, seabed material, dredging volume, required production rate and how the material will be transported or disposed of. Port access, manoeuvrability, environmental restrictions and the required dredging accuracy also influence the most suitable vessel and dredging metho
