What is the difference between concept design and basic design?
Concept design defines what the vessel should be: its main dimensions, capacity, performance, arrangement and principal technical solutions. Basic design develops the selected concept into the calculations, drawings and system documentation required for class and statutory approval and for further development of the vessel.
What does a naval architecture consultancy do?
A naval architecture consultancy provides engineering related to a vessel’s hull form, stability, hydrodynamics, weight, performance and structural characteristics. It can support projects from early feasibility and concept development through class approval, construction and vessel modifications.
Does FKAB design ship piping systems?
Yes. FKAB provides piping design as part of basic, detail and production design, including system diagrams, 3D piping modelling, pipe routing and isometric drawings.
