What hydrodynamic analysis services does FKAB offer in Singapore?
FKAB provides hydrodynamic analysis supporting newbuild and conversion projects, including resistance and propulsion studies, hull form optimization, CFD analysis, seakeeping and other vessel performance assessments. The scope is adapted to the vessel type, operating profile and stage of the design project.
What ship stability calculations are required for class approval?Toggle Title
For class and statutory approval, a vessel normally requires intact stability and, where applicable, damage stability calculations. Typical deliverables include defined loading conditions, hydrostatic data, intact and damage stability results and the documentation required for the approved Stability Booklet. Exact requirements depend on vessel type, flag, class and applicable regulations.
What is the difference between CFD and FEA?
CFD and FEA are numerical analysis methods used for different purposes. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses fluid flow around or within the vessel, while Finite Element Analysis (FEA) evaluates structural stresses, deformation and strength. Both can be used to optimize a design before construction.
When in a project should structural analysis be done?
Structural analysis adds most value early enough in the design process for the results to influence structural arrangements and scantlings. Preliminary analysis can identify critical areas during concept or basic design, while more detailed FEA is used as the design develops to verify and optimize specific structures.
What deliverables come from a vessel analysis package?
Deliverables depend on the analysis scope but typically include calculation reports, assumptions and input data, analysis models, results and engineering conclusions. Where required, the package can also include drawings, recommendations for design changes and documentation prepared for class review or approval.
