About FKAB T67
The FKAB T67 is a Tier III product and chemical tanker (IMO II & III) developed for German Tanker Shipping GmbH & Co.KG and optimized for high performance, low fuel consumption, and global trade. With slightly modified main particulars compared to conventional MR tankers, the design achieves improved hydrodynamic efficiency and operational flexibility.
Special attention was given to hull form optimization, including FKAB’s patented F-bow, resulting in reduced resistance, lower fuel consumption, and reduced CO₂ emissions over the vessel’s lifetime. The vessel is designed with high-standard European accommodation, a battery pack, and shore power connection to enable low-emission port operations.
All cargo piping, except the manifold, is arranged within a closed pipe trunk running from aft to forecastle, enhancing safety, accessibility, and maintenance.
Client: German Tanker Shipping GmbH & Co.KG
Industry: Product and Chemical Shipping
Purpose: Efficient, safe, and future-ready transportation of oil products and chemicals worldwide
WHAT WE DID
For the T67 FKAB Marine Design provided:
Developed optimized hull lines with patented F-bow to minimize resistance and improve fuel efficiency across the operational profile.
Designed an advanced propulsion concept combining a medium-speed engine, controllable pitch propeller, and shaft generator with PTO / PTI / PTH capability.
Integrated battery systems, shore power connection, and methanol-ready configuration to support future environmental regulations and low-emission operation.
Designed for operation in extreme cold conditions down to −30 °C, the vessel features a reinforced controllable pitch propeller and a strengthened ice belt in the hull, in accordance with ice class requirements. These design measures ensure reliable performance, structural integrity, and propulsion efficiency during operations in ice-affected and cold-weather environments.
RESULTS AND IMPACT
Hull form optimization and advanced propulsion integration result in low fuel consumption and reduced lifecycle CO₂ emissions.
Six-grade cargo capability, high-capacity deepwell pumps, and flexible power management enable efficient operation across a wide range of trades and operating modes.
Tier III compliance, methanol-ready configuration, battery integration, and shore power connection ensure readiness for future environmental regulations.
