RESULTS AND IMPACT

The FKAB T29 successfully achieved its objectives

Optimized waste heat recovery

The ORC waste heat-to-electricity system converts otherwise wasted energy into electricity, reducing fuel consumption. The Catamizer system captures waste heat while simultaneously reducing NOx emissions to meet Tier III requirements, all within a single, space-efficient unit that requires less room and weight compared to traditional solutions.

Low vibration and noise levels

Evaluations under the NEPTUNES protocol confirmed low noise levels, with a broadband sound power level (Lwa, Total) of 106 dB(A) and a low-frequency sound power level (Lwa, total, ≤160Hz) of 88 dB(A), enhancing crew well-being and onboard comfort

Optimized use of battery power

The battery pack serves as a UPS backup in case of power failure, while the Peak Shaving functionality activates during high power demand, ensuring operational reliability while also allowing for smaller auxiliary engines and reduced fuel consumption.
