The vessel features a highly flexible box-shaped cargo hold with movable bulkheads, flexible tween decks and grain bulkheads, enabling efficient transportation of a wide range of cargoes. With a strong tanktop, reinforced hatch covers, full container capability and an unobstructed weather deck, the design offers excellent cargo flexibility and operational efficiency. The vessel has also been developed with thorough consideration to RightShip requirements.
The optimized hull form, including FKAB’s characteristic F-Bow, ensures low resistance, reduced fuel consumption and excellent seakeeping performance, particularly in harsh weather conditions. Ballast tanks are strategically arranged to protect cargo spaces and critical machinery areas while supporting flexible loading conditions and good accessibility for maintenance.
The propulsion system is based on a medium-speed engine combined with gearbox and PTO/PTI shaft generator arrangements, enabling efficient power management and operational flexibility. The vessel is designed for MDO operation while prepared for future alternative fuels such as NH3, LNG and LBG, with reserved space for battery integration and future energy optimization solutions.
Several proven energy-saving features are integrated into the design, contributing to reduced operating costs and improved environmental performance. The FKAB G24 is developed with strong focus on operational flexibility, efficiency and future regulatory readiness.
